Let's be honest, not everyone visiting Big Sur will be eating out, some plan on eating outdoors! We LOVE roasting marshmallows over the fire as much as the next person, here's a guide to packing your own lunches,  and cooking under the stars. Safely.

Groceries are more expensive in Big Sur and options are limited. We suggest shopping before you get here, and we'll list places to stock up in Monterey and other gateway locations.

Cambria has a great farmers market and gorgeous beaches where you can picnic, pack your cooler and start your trip with fresh fruits and veggies.

Safeway, Target, REI, Bike Rentals and more can be found in Monterey from the north and San Luis Obispo in the south, if you're coming from Highway 1, Santa Barbara is another good urban center to stock up.
